Charming Chesterton really forks it over when it comes to vegan options with a host of cafes, small restaurants and special eateries. So lettuce get started on a short list of must-try places on the Chesterton beet and romaine optimistic that you will not be disappointed.
Third Coast Spice Café at 761 Indian Boundary Rd # 6 has a nice slice of a vegan menu including Madras Coconut Curry, a vegan burger, and Very Vegan Chili. There are also quite a few vegetarian items on this expansive menu and a Blaze Your Own Trail salad, letting you add items you want. Finish your meal with a smoothie or save room for the next stop!
You won’t be soured on Lemon Tree Mediterranean Grill. Lemon Tree offers falafel, tabbouleh, hummus, carrot salad, lentil soup, and so much more! The menu is significantly vegan with a “choose your style” option for building your own bowl or sandwich. Lemon Tree is at 356 Indian Boundary Rd.
Hunter’s Brewing at 1535 S Calumet Rd has an entirely plant-based menu and craft beers. Many vegan items are also gluten-free. Go nuts over Hunter’s peanut noodles or find hap-pea-ness in their hummus wrap while enjoying outdoor seating and a cool West Wind ale.
If you aren’t falafulled up yet, check out Moe’s Fresh Mediterranean at 791 Indian Boundary Road. Mohamed Mroueh has been serving up vegan delectables in Northwest Indiana for many years and his falafel is nothing short of perfection. Moe also has a food truck and you never know where he’ll “turnip.”
Finish your day with a vegan treat from newly opened Flour Shoppe Bakery at 540 Indian Boundary Rd, which dedicates Thursdays to gluten-free and vegan yummies.
