Great jazz and blues in a cool speakeasy setting

I wrote about The Nightingale in 2025, when if first opened. This summer has seen a slew of great live music performances in this former Moose Lodge on Fridays and Saturdays, but the subterranean Michigan City club is still not open regular hours. Unfortunately, the club's website is not up to date, so the only way to find out about performances is to check Instagram or Facebook. Brix Tasting Room has reopened in a new location

The wine bar, which developed a nice following when it was located in the Michigan City Arts District, has been building out its space on Rt. 12 for several months. It quietly opened the beginning of summer, and its fans have found it, flocking to the new space for wines by the glass, special bottles, and pizzas, salads, baked brie and other appetizers. William B's Steakhouse at the Blue Chip Casino has reopened with a new look, menu

Gone is the classic Vegas old-school steakhouse vibe, replaced with a more modern look. The menu now features steak frites, a premium burger, and a few other more affordable items. The aim is to attract diners who aren't going to the casino floor. The bar, which used to be in the main lobby connected to the gambling floor, is now behind a solid wall and door, separating it from any cigarette smoke coming from the casino. Read more here.
