Meet Robert Rolfe Feddersen! Robert is a gold-selling singer/songwriter from Chicago who now resides in Crown Point, Indiana. Robert’s songwriting style is very open, honest, reflective, humorous and topical. He has a well-crafted seven album catalog of songs, the last two of which were recorded in Chicago by Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, Cheap Trick.) Robert performs over 135 shows per year, many at local breweries, and his songwriting style has been compared to early Springsteen/Steve Earle/Woody Guthrie.
What brought you to the dunes? Always loved visiting the Dunes when I lived in Chicago. It’s like a whole other world when you’re there. I bought a South Shore Line print titled “Moonlight in Duneland” that is hanging in my living room. When I can’t be at the dunes, it’s always a wonderful reminder of an area so close to my Crown Point home.
How long have you lived here? I’ve lived in NWI for 16 years.
What is your favorite thing to do in the area? Every other Tuesday in the Summer months, I spin vinyl records at Burn ‘Em Brewing in Michigan City. Warm Summer nights in a beautiful Duneland town
Tell us a secret about the dunes. Back when you could climb Mt. Baldy, my mother-in-law beat me to the top by a country mile!
Give us your top three “hidden treasures” (restaurant, shop, trail, beach, event…really anything!)
a) Bartlett’s in Beverly Shores
b) Burn ‘Em Brewing in Michigan City
c) Fire & Water in Michigan City
What would you like to teach people about the dunes? It’s a beautiful place to spend time with family, friends, or alone to create as an artist. Inspiring beauty.
Anything else? In an age where independent shops and businesses are dwarfed by big box retailers, the dunes offers a unique, independent spirit for businesses and artists alike. “I dig the Dunes baby!”
