Meet Adelaide Herman! Adelaide lives in Beverly Shores and owns the boutique “Adelaide” in Chicago and New Buffalo where she herself handpicks the clothes, handbags shoes and jewelry. She knows the area very well as she drives back and forth between Chicago and New Buffalo many times a week. She has owned her store for 23 years. Adelaide works very hard and looks forward to summers where she can relax a little on the beach in Beverly Shores with her friends.
What brought you to the dunes? My husband’s mom would bring him to Beverly Shores Tremont beach when he was little. Her mom used to bring her when she was little. I came here for our second date. I knew the very second that I arrived that I would have to live here one day.
How long have you lived here? I have lived here in Beverly shores for 15 years. My husband and I moved here on Aug 10 of 2001.
What is your favorite thing to do in the area? I am big on going to the beach. I love sand water and sun.
Tell us a secret about the dunes The secret is that no one from outside the area knows where Beverly Shores is. It is the best kept secret in the dunes.
Give us your top three “hidden treasures” (restaurant, shop, trail, beach, event…really anything!) a) The beach in front of my home. It is always empty. b) Bartlett’s Gourmet Grill c) Rolling Stonebaker. Love the pizza truck!
There is so much! …I just can’t stop at three!
d) Love Bentwood. e) Love Dory’s hair salon on Hyy 12 in Michigan city f) I love Mix and Mingle a lovely shop on Hwy 12 that sells objects for the home. g) Executive Detail does the best job on my car. Also on Hwy 12
What would you like to teach people about the dunes? How delicate the dunes are and how they should respect the dunes
Anything else? I have had my store Adelaide for 23 years. I have two locations. One in Chicago and one in New Buffalo, please come out sometime and visit the boutique!
