Meet your Neighbors: Robert Tomasic

Meet Robert Tomasic! Robert Moved to Chesterton, Indiana in 1996 and started his family with his wife of 20 years, Shawna Tomasic, who he met living in Florida. Robert has been working at Datagraphic in Chesterton for 13 years as a pressman, and has been in the printing business for over 35 years. Robert is a a serious camper, he also enjoys hiking and fishing with his family. A hobby of Robert’s is to snap photos of his weekends at the Dunes – check out a few of his shots in the following slide show. He has been camping at the Indiana Dunes State Park and as far as Potato Creek since living here in Indiana.

What brought you to the dunes? I got into hiking the dunes with my wife for exercise and fresh air.

How long have you lived here? I have lived here since October of 1996

What is your favorite thing to do in the area? Fishing and Hiking (Trail 9 is the best) – My favorite fishing spot is Rogers Lakewood. I go there a lot with my sons. And the 5 lakes in the Valpo area.

Tell us a secret about the dunes. I don’t really have any secrets of the Dunes, but when Shawna and I want to run away from the kids, the trails are always a great place to escape!

Give us your top three “hidden treasures” (restaurant, shop, trail, beach, event…really anything!)

a) Duneland Family YMCA b) Trail 9 at the Indiana Dunes State Park – my favorite spot is the ridge – you can get some awesome pictures of the lake. c) Billiards at Inmans – there aren’t many places to play billiards anymore and my sons and I go to play all the time.

What would you like to teach people about the dunes? Follow the Rules!!! Respect the area and don’t trash it!!

Anything else? If you are looking to support a local business, Datagraphic Printing & Copying is the place to start! We have proudly served the Duneland area for over 24 years. I have been here for 13 of them! We have remained in the same location since the doors opened in the heart of downtown Chesterton. We will always serve our customers in the Duneland community in the manner they’ve come to rely on: quality work that is competitively priced and delivered in a timely manner.
