At Dig the Dunes we are always excited to share with you the treasures of the dunes. Because of this, we love to highlight others that do the same. This week we bring you a piece about the South Shore CVA.

There’s always something to do and see (or eat and drink) in the Region, and for more than 30 years, the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority has led the way in promoting the hospitality industry along the southern lakeshore of Indiana. The South Shore CVA collaborates with its partners to market the South Shore’s events, attractions, restaurants, and hotels through PR, marketing, design, video production and other services.
On the South Shore CVA website, visitors and residents can find information about hotels, things to do, trip ideas, conventions, and special events, as well details about the region’s towns. In bringing people to the area, the intention is also to cultivate a unique and memorable experience.
“Our goal is to bring visitors in, but also to bring people here for different reasons. The people here are what makes an experience great. The way you create a memory or emotions of a vacation you took are based upon the interactions you have. People in northwest Indiana are genuine,” said Erika Dahl, Director of Communications.
One of the South Shore CVA’s collaborations with the region’s craft breweries has helped to promote the booming craft beer industry in northwest Indiana. Through the South Shore Brewery Trail App and website, beer lovers and visitors to the area can discover the best of breweries, beers, and brewfests of the south shore.
The Welcome Center in Hammond is a beautiful spot, which often houses different art exhibits
The South Shore CVA will host some special events through the end of the year at the Indiana Welcome Center that can help visitors and residents make those special memories:
200 Years Along the Lakeshore celebrates Indiana’s Bicentennial through an exhibit of the state’s history, people, and industries. The exhibit closes just before the torch relay comes through Lake County!
The annual “A Christmas Story” Comes Home: A Major Event takes place December 3. Events include cookie decorating, letters to Santa, showings of the movie (a family favorite in our house), and even an ugly lamp contest! Did you know the story is based on growing up in Hammond? Learn how this holiday classic has a special connection to the Region.
To explore the South Shore’s full calendar of events, hotels, and attractions throughout northwest Indiana, be sure to check out the South Shore CVA website.
The South Shore CVA Welcome Center is located at 7770 Corinne Drive, Hammond, IN 46323
