The 19th annual Necktie 5K race will take place on Saturday, June 20, the day before Fathers’ Day in Beverly Shores. Festivities for this family friendly run, kick off at 7am, with the race beginning at 8am.
Participants in this popular event celebrate Father’s Day by running or walking 5 kilometers. Dads, grandads, dads-to-be, and dad figures accompanied by kids, pets, and many moms fill the streets of Beverly Shores, all while sporting festive neckties.

Kids of all ages (3 to 80+) take to a course that meanders through town. It parallels the Great Marsh, passing the Bald Eagles’ nest (keep your eyes open to catch a glimpse of mom, dad and their eaglets), and then makes its way through tree-lined streets. Finally, the home stretch runs adjacent to Lake Michigan and leads to a finish line that’s fully decorated with neckties.
Prizes are awarded to the overall winners, the top 3 finishers in each age group as well as the fasted first father/son and father/daughter teams. Prizes also go to participants with the most eye-catching neckties.
Music will be provided by Ryan Craven, son of Jerry and Patti Craven of Beverly Shores. Ryan is both an accomplished runner and musician who will be playing guitar and singing the national anthem, songs he has written about running in high school and college, and other popular music. Following the post-race activities, The Goblin will offer a celebratory brunch with discounts for race participants, great food and more music to keep everyone entertained.
Registrations will also be accepted on the day of the race beginning at 7am, though the cost will increase and race T-shirts are not guarateed.
For those who register early, packet pickup will be on Friday, June 19th at the Beverly Shores Administration Building from 6 - 7pm.
Registration is limited to 500 participants, so be sure to sign up soon.
