Jonna and Gary are excited to slow down and meet more of the locals!

This past summer, Jonna and Gary took over the lower level of the Dunes Pavilion and quickly discovered just how busy beach season can be. After a whirlwind few months serving the summer crowds, they’re excited to slow down a bit and focus on the locals. Get to know the friendly faces behind Jonna's Beach Bar and Cafe and see what they have planned for the months ahead.

When did you open Jonna’s Beach Bar & Cafe? We opened the cafe May 26, 2025.

How are you changing it for the fall/winter season?

We have changed the menu from a grab 'n go style cafe to full table service. Changed from primarily beach food, to more comfort foods with daily specials.

Can you let us know some sample menu specialties? Jonna’s famous Italian beef sandwich, truffle fries, jumbo shrimp cocktail, and our fall harvest salads are crowd favorites. We also offer desserts, homemade muffins and pastries, iced and hot coffee and tea bar, and a selection of beer, wine and spirits. Our daily specials like chili, various soups, slow roasted pot roast on garlic mashed, wine braised short ribs, and bratwurst with sauerkraut and spaetzle have been swimmingly popular this fall.

Can people rent out the space? Yes! Please contact us to discuss your gathering or event.

What’s your background? Our background is being a locally owned and operated catering company, Jonna's Special Events and Catering out of Portage for the last 25 years.

What’s your vision? Currently we are focused on catering to the taste buds of local residents! We really want to let them know we are on location, operating Wednesday thru Sunday 10-5 pm.
